Soup & loaf of bread leaves me deliriously happy. Is it possible to get high off grilled parmesan cheese? Just wondering.
Oh rather than like it’s a key or anything, but if I’m by itself I’ll sip it slowly from your bowl. Let’s not really pretend I’m the only person, internet friends.
But let me ask you a serious question: what is soup with out a sandwich? Without crusty toasted buttered loaf of bread and melty cheese in the centre? Well, it seriously isn’t the same. Believe me, I understand this bread and soup matter. Or at least I can state to since I’ve got this food blog thing going on.
Actually, what I’m wondering is definitely if you’re prepared to make a FREAKING AMAZING soup and sandwich combo?
Great – I thought so!
Butta that breads!
Add some whole milk mozz. Or pepper jack if you like. They melt flawlessly.
Top the bread with turkey bacon and chopped up of ripe avocado.
Probably some tomatoes and fresh basil, as well? Your call!
Wait around ‘til everything gets all melty and lovely. The salty turkey bacon is the ideal contrast to the creamy, warm avocado, but mozzarella is normally my favorite part of the whole sandwich. You can also get creative and add other ingredients like tomatoes and basil or perhaps some pepperoni, which elevate the flavor profile from the sandwich a lot more.
Quick tip: Be sure you use a great hearty artisan bread. I purchased mine from the Whole Foods bakery and lower it thick to make sure a good, lovely crunch.
Last but not at all least, this sandwich deserves an excellent soup pairing so choose wisely! I pick the brand-new Creamy Tomato Progresso® Artisan Soup. It gets the flavor of traditional tomato soup with zesty roasted peppers, garlic, and essential olive oil.
I can’t let you know how much I actually enjoyed this soup. For reals, guys.
In fact, Progresso® recently arrived with an entire Artisan soup line which were all really delicious: Butternut Squash Masala Curry (OMG YUM), Creamy Tomato , Smoky White Bean , Creamy Potato , and Rustic Tomato You can read more about their passion for ingredients and soup here:
3 ounces mozzarella
½ avocado, sliced
2 basil leaves
butter, for spreading
Spread butter using one side of every slice of bread.
Slice the mozzarella and place on unbuttered sides of the breads. Add avocado and turkey bacon (plus tomato and basil, if desired) best with remaining pieces of buttered loaf of bread.
Heat a skillet over medium high temperature and add sandwich. Cover having a cover and prepare about 5 minutes, or until golden brown on bottom level.
Carefully flip sandwich, reduce heat to medium and cook a few more minutes or before cheese has melted and bread is fantastic brown. Enjoy instantly!
